El Jaye Johnson and The Port City All-Stars Receive Rave Reviews
On July 7, 2011, El Jaye graced the stage at the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, North Carolina along with five seasoned musicians. The musicians included Kevin Kolb on keyboards, Taylor Lee on bass, Troy Pierce on drums, Teddy Burgh on flute, Mike Hanson on congas and percussion and El Jaye playing guitar, trumpet, vocals, and percussion. Cleverly titled, "The Rhythm is Gonna Get Ya!" El Jaye Johnson and the Port City All-Stars painted a musical picturescape of rhythm and melody which utilized a palatte of carribean, latin, jazz, reggae, funk and R&B. One would be either tone deaf or lifeless to not experience toe-tapping and hand clapping karma eminating from the stage. Barry Salwen from CVNC.org was on hand at El Jaye's most eclectic set to date. Read his striking review HERE.
